They found that the primary components are actually copper (78-82%) and tin (18-22%). Other trace metals, often considered \”sacred,\” such as zinc and iron, are more likely to be natural impurities from the original ore.
This research highlights that the ratio of copper to tin is the crucial factor determining the richness of the bowl\’s tone and overtones. Notably, when the copper-tin ratio is 78:22, the singing bowl produces the richest harmonics, which helps explain why some ancient bowls have such a beautiful and lasting sound.
