The Harmonic Stage
A Cross-Media Art Project Fusing Singing Bowls and Drama
The Harmonic Stage
Created and Curated by Yeeomnia, the Harmonic Stage is a cross-media art project that seamlessly fuses singing bowls and drama through storytelling. It pioneers a new form of “Singing Bowl Theatre,” deeply integrating sound healing with theatrical performance to offer audiences an unprecedented experience of both art and therapy.
Song Rao Theatre moves beyond traditional, passive viewing; it is a journey where the audience finds healing within the story. We break the boundaries of artistic forms, allowing the healing frequencies of the singing bowls to become an indispensable part of the plot—serving not merely as a musical score, but as an integral element of the narrative itself. Acting as an emotional bridge, the therapeutic resonance leads the audience into deep immersion, allowing them to share every sensation and emotion with the characters.
Creative Concept
Singing bowl master Kayee Lee, who also works as a stage actress in her free time, discovered common ground between drama training and meditation practice. Sensing that traditional “drama therapy” primarily benefits the actors themselves, she considered whether this element of “healing” could be directly extended to the audience. This notion led to the creation of Yeeomnia’s first experimental project, Singing Bowl Lingered Around Yim Tin Tsai (《頌・繞・鹽田梓》), which successfully premiered at the “Yim Tin Tsai Performing Arts Festival 2025.”
Theatre Features
- A Single Production, Dual Role Integration: The performance integrates a complete theatrical structure with deep singing bowl healing. The singing bowl master simultaneously takes on an acting role, appearing within the plot and incorporating singing bowl healing segments, perfectly blending with the professional actors’ performance to achieve an interactive effect of the two elements within the narrative.
- Fluid Viewing Experience: The audience area features both seated and lying positions. The production is meticulously choreographed to guide the audience to transition at different times: sometimes focusing on the dramatic plot from a seated position; other times moving to a lying position to relax flat amidst the sound of the singing bowls, entering a deep sound-guided state. This “sit-and-lie” arrangement ensures the audience can experience this three-dimensional artistic spectacle in the most immersive and comfortable state.
The Harmonic Stage aims to utilize this innovative format to help urban dwellers find their inner peace and strength in the interplay of movement and stillness. It is not just an artistic performance, but a profound self-exploration and therapeutic practice.
Repertoire
Singing Bowl Lingered Around Yim Tin Tsai 《頌·繞·鹽田梓》
Yeeomnia was one of the performing groups at the Yim Tin Tsai Performing Arts Festival 2025.
The production, Singing Bowl Lingered Around Yim Tin Tsai (《頌·繞·鹽田梓》), used the script “When Love Fades” (《愛在消失的時候》) and served as the experimental project for The Harmonic Stage (頌繞劇場).
Singing Bowl Lingered Around Yim Tin Tsai guided the audience to explore their inner emotions and re-examine human relationships on the tranquil land of Yim Tin Tsai. The healing frequencies of the singing bowls acted as an emotional bridge, leading the audience through the story’s highs and lows to feel the power of love, loss, and rebirth, and ultimately find their own answers.
Nineteen singing bowls and one love story provided healing for all audience members, resulting in impressive box office success. The second performance was completely sold out and was widely well-received.
